A senior official of the All People’s Congress (APC) has publicly dismissed a forged press release circulating on social media that falsely claimed the death of former Sierra Leonean President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

Abu Bakarr Boxx Konteh, the APC Organizing Secretary for the North West Region, confirmed that the former president is alive and in good health following a direct phone conversation early this morning.

“I received a call from my political Godfather (Ernest Bai Koroma) this 6am checking on me, he sounds super good n healthy,” Konteh stated, putting to rest the rumors sparked by the counterfeit document.

The false claims stem from a highly manipulated image designed to look like an official APC press release. The forged document, which has been widely shared across messaging apps and social media platforms, contained several fabricated details aimed at deceiving the public:

The fake press release dated April 28, 2026 falsely stated that Dr. Koroma passed away at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana.

It fraudulently used the APC letterhead and featured the names of Hon. Lansana Dumbuya, National Secretary General, and Mdm. Amie Kamara, National Secretary for Women’s Affairs, as authorizing the release.

Party officials and loyalists are urging the public and party supporters to disregard the malicious document and rely only on verified communication channels for updates regarding party leadership.
