Personnel attached to the Mile 38 Checkpoint in the Masiaka Division have arrested a man for the unlawful possession of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The arrest reportedly took place on Thursday, 30 April 2026, during a routine vehicle inspection carried out by officers operating under the command of Superintendent Foday Sorie Fofanah.
Police identified the suspect as Momoh Kargbo, a resident of Tengeh Town, Freetown. He was said to be driving a vehicle with registration number ADZ 919 at the time of the incident.
According to reports, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and allegedly discovered a quantity of dry leaves believed to be cannabis in his possession.
The suspect, together with the recovered exhibits, is expected to be transferred to the Transnational Organised Crime Unit headquarters in Hastings for further investigation.
The matter remains under investigation.
