President Julius Maada Bio is expected to visit Kenema on Saturday, 9 May 2026, to officially turn the sod for the construction of a new Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) office in the city.

Residents and SLPP supporters in Kenema are preparing to receive the President for the ceremony.

The event is expected to draw attendees including party supporters, government officials, youth groups, women’s organizations, and local authorities from across the Eastern Region.

Senior SLPP stakeholders from across the country are also anticipated to attend.

The planned office construction is being described by supporters as a reflection of the party’s presence in the Eastern Region, a traditional SLPP stronghold. It comes as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s organizational structures ahead of future political activities.

President Bio recently called for unity and readiness within the party during the SLPP’s 75th anniversary celebrations. He is expected to address supporters during the groundbreaking and highlight ongoing national development initiatives.

The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 9 May 2026, in Kenema.
