The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone participated in the 2026 Seoul Friendship Festival organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government from 9th–10th May 2026 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
The annual festival, held under the slogan “30 Years with the World, Bridging Cultures Together,” brought together embassies from 74 countries accredited to the Republic of Korea to celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen international friendship through cultural exchange.
The Head of Chancery Rachel musu Kanu and staff of the Embassy represented Sierra Leone at the two-day cultural event, which featured promotional booths from 45 embassies showcasing their traditions, cultures, tourism attractions, and local specialties.
The Seoul Friendship Festival aims to promote understanding and cooperation between Seoul and cities around the world. Hosted at one of Seoul’s most visited landmarks, the event attracted thousands of visitors and offered a variety of cultural exhibitions and interactive activities.
Visitors participated in hands-on cultural experiences including traditional games and the opportunity to try on national costumes from different countries. Traditional attire from Sierra Leone was among those displayed during the festival alongside costumes from Nigeria, Sudan, El Salvador, Cambodia, Romania, and Zambia.
A Korean cultural zone was also organized across the venue, offering Korean cuisine and beauty-related activities such as skin-tone color consultations and cosmetic product sampling.
The Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone showcased handmade crafts and cultural items from Sierra Leone, attracting many visitors to the booth. The Embassy also recorded sales from attendees who purchased some of the displayed items during the two-day festival.
Sierra Leone’s participation in the festival further highlighted the country’s rich cultural heritage and strengthened cultural relations between Sierra Leone and the Republic of Korea.
