The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists has announced that its 2026 Annual General Meeting will take place from June 11 to June 13, 2026, at the University of Makeni Auditorium in Makeni City, Northern Region.
According to an official notice issued by the Association and dated May 19, 2026, the three-day gathering will be held under the theme, “Strengthening Sierra Leone’s Economy Through Responsible Journalism,” with proceedings scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. daily.
The notice stated that members of the Association will deliberate on several key matters affecting the organization and the media landscape in Sierra Leone.
Among the issues listed for discussion are the reading of the notice convening the meeting, consideration of the audited financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2026, and the auditors’ reports.
The Association also disclosed that members will receive and consider the President’s Report for the 2025/2026 period, as well as reports from emissaries, representatives to boards, affiliate bodies, and regional executives. The meeting will also include the appointment of auditors and deliberations on other matters brought before the assembly.
As part of the special business for the event, the notice announced that the SLAJ/IMC National Media Awards will also form part of the activities during the Annual General Meeting.
The notice further informed members that motions for consideration at the meeting would be accepted by the Secretariat from the date of the notice until May 31, 2026. Such motions, according to the Association, should be submitted through the official email address provided by the Secretariat.
The Association emphasized that only verified and fully paid-up members would be allowed to participate in the deliberations during the meeting.
