The Government of Sierra Leone has declared Wednesday, 27th May 2026, as a public holiday nationwide in observance of the Feast of Eid-Ul-Adha.

The announcement was made in a public notice issued from State House, Tower Hill, on Tuesday, 26th May 2026.

Eid-Ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

The holiday applies across all regions of the country.

Government officials urged the public to observe the day in a spirit of peace, reflection, and community solidarity.
