Nyapui Secondary School of Excellence in Kenema City has suffered another fire incident after flames damaged part of a pupils’ residential structure on Monday evening, May 25, 2026, marking the second fire outbreak to hit the school’s boarding facilities this year.
According to preliminary reports, the latest fire broke out at approximately 8:30 p.m. in one of the dormitory buildings within the school compound. Parts of the structure and several personal belongings belonging to pupils were destroyed in the incident.
Community members and security personnel reportedly responded swiftly to the scene and managed to contain the blaze before it spread to other buildings on the campus. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were recorded.
The Sierra Leone Police has since launched investigations to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak. Officials also commended residents and first responders for their timely intervention, which helped bring the situation under control.
The latest incident comes barely months after a major fire destroyed the school’s boarding home on January 3, 2026, causing panic among parents, guardians, and residents across Kenema City.

That earlier fire reportedly started at about 8:00 p.m., with eyewitnesses and viral social media videos showing flames rapidly engulfing the entire boarding facility.
The blaze consumed the structure within a short period, forcing frightened parents and residents to rush to the school in attempts to rescue pupils and assess the situation.
Although no deaths or serious injuries were confirmed during the January incident, the extent of destruction was described as severe, with the entire boarding structure reportedly destroyed by the flames.
At the time, authorities had not immediately confirmed the cause of the fire, while emergency responders and community members struggled to contain the rapidly spreading blaze.
The recurrence of fire outbreaks at the school has now raised fresh concerns among parents and residents about safety conditions within the institution’s boarding facilities.
Authorities say investigations into the latest incident are ongoing, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
