The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), through its Freetown-East Regional Operations Team, provided comprehensive security during the Guinean legislative and municipal elections held in Calabatown, Freetown, on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The operation was led by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Brima Kanneh, Regional Commander of Freetown-East, with officers strategically deployed around the polling centre at the Fullah Mosque on Robis Road.
The elections saw a large turnout of Guinean nationals residing within the Freetown-East region. Voting was conducted in a calm, orderly, and well-coordinated manner, with no incidents of violence, disruption, or insecurity reported throughout the process.
The presence of police officers was credited with maintaining public order, ensuring voter safety, and strengthening confidence in the electoral process.
The SLP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peaceful democratic processes and ensuring the safety and security of all residents and foreign nationals within its jurisdiction.
