Sierra Leone is participating in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026, taking place from 3–6 June 2026 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The Forum is one of the world’s leading platforms for economic dialogue, investment promotion, and international cooperation, bringing together heads of state, government officials, business leaders, investors, and development partners from across the globe.
Sierra Leone delegation is led by the Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Julius D. Mattai, and includes the Leader of Government Business in Parliament of Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, the Director General of the National Minerals Agency (NMA), the Director of Policy and Research, the Director of Geological Surveys, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the National Minerals Agency.

The Forum provides an important opportunity for Sierra Leone to engage with international stakeholders on matters relating to economic development, investment, strategic partnerships, and the sustainable development of the country’s mineral resources. It also serves as a platform to promote Sierra Leone’s growing potential in critical minerals, geological exploration, mineral processing, and value addition.
Finally, according to the Minister of Mines, Matta, Sierra Leone’s participation at SPIEF 2026 underscores the Government’s commitment to leveraging the mining sector as a key driver of economic transformation, industrialization, employment creation, and sustainable development. It also highlights the country’s continued efforts to position itself as a competitive and responsible destination for mining investment.
