The Sierra Leone Public Transport Authority (SLPTA) has responded to information about the inferno which occurred at the Kissy Bus Depot on Friday night. In a public notice issued, the SLPTA informed the public that the fire incident occurred at the Kissy Bus Depot at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Friday, 5th June 2026.
SLPTA confirmed that the fire destroyed five government-owned buses that operate on provincial routes.
The Authority also clarified that no Waka Fine buses were affected, disspelling rumours that suggested some of the Waka Fine buses were involved in the fire.
They said that the National Fire Force responded quickly and put out the fire before it could spread to other buses and facilities at the depot. It added that no casualties have so far been reported.
The notice said Sierra Leone Fire Force and SLPTA have begun investigations to determine the cause of the fire and have promised to inform the public of the outcome.
