President Julius Maada Bio has publicly congratulated First Lady Fatima Maada Bio following her graduation with a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of California, Los Angeles Fielding School of Public Health in the United States.

In a post on X on June 12, 2026, President Bio praised his wife’s academic achievement, describing her as hardworking, diligent, and focused.

“The children and I are incredibly proud of your outstanding achievement as you graduate today with a Master’s Degree in Public Health at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health,” the President wrote. “Fatima, you’ve always been hardworking, diligent, and focused. Congratulations on this remarkable accomplishment!”

The First Lady had arrived in the United States ahead of the commencement ceremony, which was scheduled for 5:30 PM Los Angeles time, corresponding to 12:30 AM on June 13 in Sierra Leone.

In a separate statement issued the same day, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio said she was “deeply honored” to stand among the graduating class, describing the milestone as a shared achievement for all Sierra Leoneans.

She expressed gratitude to the public for their prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout her academic journey.

Dr. Bio noted that public health administration plays a critical role in strengthening health systems, improving access to quality healthcare, shaping effective policies, and preparing future leaders to address global health challenges.

She added that the knowledge and skills gained through the programme would further strengthen her commitment to advancing the health, well-being, and development of the people of Sierra Leone.

The First Lady concluded her message with prayers for Sierra Leone and its people as she marked the academic milestone.
