His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, arrived in Nouakchott, Mauritania, this afternoon for a meeting with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
President Bio is serving as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority for the 2024-2025 term following a handover from President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria at the 67th Ordinary Session of the Authority.
The meeting in Mauritania is part of the ECOWAS Chairman’s ongoing regional engagements. Mauritania is an associate member of ECOWAS and plays a key role in regional security and cooperation, particularly in the Sahel.

THE PEOPLE OF SIERRA LEONE HAVE NOT MOVED ON AND WILL NEVER ACCEPT THE ILLEGITIMACY OF JULIUS MAADA BIO WHO HAS DONE EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS, IMPRISONMENT ETC IN COLLABORATION WITH THE MAIN OPPOSITION APC PARTY. THE PEOPLE OF SIERRA LEONE WILL SUE ECOWAS FOR UNDERMINING DEMOCRACY.
