Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, has arrived safely in New York ahead of a busy schedule of international engagements focused on leadership, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development.

She was received at John F. Kennedy International Airport by senior officials of Sierra Leone’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations. The welcoming delegation included Ambassador Ibrahim Kalilu Totangi, Deputy Permanent Representative for Political Affairs, Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery Mr. Sulay Manah Kpukumu, alongside other Mission staff.

During her stay, the First Lady is expected to participate in the 3rd Global First Partners Academy, a high-level executive leadership programme bringing together First Ladies and Gentlemen from across the world. She is also scheduled to hold a series of high-level engagements within the United Nations system in the coming days.

According to the First Lady, she remains committed to advancing Sierra Leone’s interests, promoting the empowerment of women and girls, and strengthening global partnerships that contribute to sustainable development.
