Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, is set to officially commission the newly established Masingbi Police Division in Tonkolili District on Saturday, 4 July 2026, as part of the Sierra Leone Police’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its operational presence and improve service delivery across the country.
The establishment of the Masingbi Police Division forms part of IGP Sellu’s broader strategy to expand police infrastructure, bring policing services closer to communities, and enhance public safety through accessible and community-oriented policing.
Strategically located, the new division is expected to bridge the distance between the Magburaka Police Division in the North East Region and the Motema Police Division in the Eastern Region.
It will also extend policing coverage to communities within the eastern and southern corridors of the operational area, improving the Sierra Leone Police’s ability to respond promptly to security concerns.
Police authorities say the new division will strengthen crime prevention and detection, enhance community engagement, and provide residents with easier access to police services by reducing the need to travel long distances to existing divisional headquarters.
The commissioning of the Masingbi Police Division represents another milestone in IGP Sellu’s drive to modernize the Sierra Leone Police through sustained infrastructure development and improved operational capacity.
The initiative is expected to reinforce the force’s commitment to delivering professional, responsive, and people-centred policing while ensuring that more communities benefit from an increased police presence and improved access to justice.
