Wusum Stars delivered a commanding performance at the Wusum Field on Monday, securing a 2-1 victory over Old Edwardians in their Match Week 33 encounter of the Leone Rock Premier League 2025/2026 season.
The Northern-Rock-based side wasted no time asserting their dominance, with forward Alie Conteh finding the net just three minutes into the contest. Conteh capitalized on a precise delivery from Sembu Koroma, slotting past the Edwardians goalkeeper to send the home supporters into raptures.
The early breakthrough set the tone for a composed first-half display from the hosts. Wusum Stars dictated the rhythm of the game through crisp passing and robust midfield control, consistently stifling any attacking intent from the visitors.
Their tactical discipline paid dividends in the 24th minute when Alie Foday Kabia doubled the advantage, calmly finishing a well-crafted team move that was orchestrated by influential midfielder Alpha Bedoh Conteh, who provided the decisive assist.
Old Edwardians emerged from the interval with renewed vigour, pressing higher up the pitch and testing the Wusum Stars backline. Their efforts finally bore fruit in the 77th minute when James Jusu Kanja converted a fine pass from Amara Koroma to reduce the deficit and inject late tension into the contest.
However, the home side showcased remarkable defensive resilience in the closing stages, absorbing sustained pressure and denying their opponents any clear-cut opportunities to salvage a point.
The victory was sealed in fine sporting fashion, with the match proceeding without a single booking for either team.
Alpha Bedoh Conteh was deservedly named Man of the Match, having delivered a masterclass in midfield creativity, vision, and work rate, underpinned by his decisive contribution to the second goal.
The result strengthens Wusum Stars’ position in the league standings as they continue their pursuit of a strong finish to the 2025/2026 campaign.
