Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has visited the site of a devastating fire that occurred on June 27 at 3D off the main motor road in Congo Town, where she expressed solidarity with affected residents and reaffirmed the Freetown City Council’s (FCC) commitment to supporting them.
During the visit, the Mayor assured residents that the FCC would continue to stand by them in the aftermath of the incident, noting that the Council had already begun delivering on that commitment.

In partnership with Caritas, the FCC distributed relief items including food, blankets, and assorted clothing to assist families in meeting their immediate needs.
The fire, reportedly caused by an electrical malfunction, destroyed seven homes and partially damaged nine others.

The FCC reiterated its commitment to supporting the affected families as they begin rebuilding their lives.
