First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr Fatima Maada Bio, on July 12, 2026, served as Guest of Honour at the JMB North America Fundraising Dinner and Dance held in New Jersey, United States of America.

The event was organised under the leadership of Chairperson Mrs Agatha Demby and her team, bringing together members and supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in the diaspora.

In her remarks, the First Lady expressed appreciation to JMB North America for their dedication, hospitality, and continued commitment to the SLPP. She also extended gratitude to SLPP USA for their unwavering support, unity, and sustained efforts in promoting the party’s vision and values abroad.

Dr Bio noted that the gathering highlighted the importance of unity and collective determination in advancing national development. She emphasised that the engagement of Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora reflects strong patriotism and a shared commitment to national progress, regardless of geographical distance.

The First Lady further underscored the need to strengthen party structures and institutions while promoting accountability, inclusion, and service within the political space. She added that building strong systems within the party contributes to a more resilient democratic foundation for Sierra Leone.

She also referenced the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, describing ongoing efforts to consolidate his legacy as President of Sierra Leone and current Chairman of ECOWAS.

The event concluded with renewed calls for unity among party members and continued collaboration between local and diaspora supporters in advancing the goals of the SLPP.
