A routine police operation at the Mile 38 Checkpoint has led to the arrest of a Waterloo resident after authorities allegedly discovered nine wraps of suspected Cannabis Sativa in his possession.

The suspect, identified as Manso Bangura of Waterloo, was arrested on Sunday, 19th July 2026, by a joint police team led by Superintendent Foday Sorie Fofanah, Officer Commanding (OC) of the Mile 38 Checkpoint.

According to police, the arrest was made during a stop-and-search operation at the checkpoint, where officers allegedly found nine plastic wraps containing dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, commonly known as “Jamba.”

The suspect and the suspected narcotics have been taken into police custody as investigations continue to establish further details surrounding the matter.

The Mile 38 Checkpoint remains one of the key security points used by law enforcement to monitor movement and prevent illegal activities along major routes.

Police have confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing.
