Post a comment The Chairman of the Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC), Kasho J. Holland Cole, has officially turned the sod for the reconstruction of the Regent/Hill Station Community Health Centre and the rehabilitation and expansion of Maria Primary School in Grafton.
The projects are being implemented with support from the Accountable Governance for Service Delivery Project as part of the Council’s commitment to improving healthcare, education, water and sanitation services across the district.
The Regent/Hill Station Community Health Centre project includes the reconstruction of the health facility, modern WASH facilities, a solar-powered water well, improved toilets and an incinerator for the safe disposal of medical waste. The contract was awarded to Integrated General Supplies and Construction Company. The Maria Primary School project in Grafton includes the rehabilitation and expansion of the school, together with the installation of a solar-powered water well. The contract was awarded to Platinum Construction Company.
Addressing stakeholders, Chairman Holland Cole called for strong community ownership and cooperation throughout the implementation of the projects. He encouraged residents and local leaders to support the contractors, protect the facilities and ensure that the projects serve both present and future generations.
Chief Administrator Peter Koroma provided an overview of the projects and their implementation arrangements. He assured stakeholders that the Council would closely monitor the work to ensure compliance with approved specifications, quality standards and implementation timelines.
Present at the ceremonies were the Deputy Chairman, councillors, village heads from the beneficiary communities, representatives of the District Health Management Team, the WARDC Engineer, the Procurement Officer, other Council officials and community members.
Residents warmly welcomed the projects and applauded WARDC for listening and responding to their long-standing concerns. They pledged their cooperation and support towards the successful implementation and protection of the facilities.
The programme was chaired by WARDC’s Development Planning Officer, Mohamed Momoh Foday, who reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to inclusive, accountable and community-driven development.
