The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the appointment of FIFA Centre Referee Sulaiman Santio Kamara by WAFU Zone B to officiate at the WAFU B U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers scheduled for Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, from July 26 to August 9, 2026.
The tournament will bring together seven West African countries Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo competing for qualification to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to the SLFA, Kamara’s appointment represents a historic achievement for Sierra Leone, as he becomes the first referee from the country to be selected to officiate at the WAFU B U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
The football body described his selection as recognition of his professionalism, consistency, and impressive performances at both national and international levels, adding that it reflects the growing reputation of Sierra Leonean match officials in the region.
In 2025, Kamara officiated at the WAFU A U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers in Mali, where he was selected to handle the final match of the competition an appointment that demonstrated the confidence placed in his officiating abilities by tournament organisers.
The SLFA has congratulated Sulaiman Santio Kamara on the achievement and wished him success as he represents Sierra Leone at the tournament in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
