Sierra Leone is set to benefit from potential interventions by the ECOWAS Regional Fund for Stabilisation and Development (FRSD) following a technical mission aimed at identifying areas requiring targeted support.
The mission, which included representatives from GIZ, KfW, and the Embassy, is assessing opportunities to strengthen community resilience and address factors contributing to fragility across the country.
Established in 2018, the FRSD is the main stabilisation and development financing mechanism of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), a regional bloc with similarities to the European Union in promoting cooperation and development among member states.
The engagement forms part of broader regional efforts to tackle the root causes of instability by supporting initiatives that build stronger, more resilient communities.
Through the visit, the FRSD seeks to better understand Sierra Leone’s development priorities and explore areas where coordinated support can contribute to lasting peace, stability, and sustainable growth.
