The United States Embassy in Freetown has welcomed six new Peace Corps trainees to Sierra Leone, as they prepare to support education and maternal health programmes across rural communities in the country.
In a statement, the US Embassy said the trainees will undergo 10 weeks of intensive training before beginning their service in schools and maternal health clinics throughout rural Sierra Leone.
The Embassy expressed excitement about their arrival and wished the trainees a rewarding training experience and a successful period of service as they work alongside Sierra Leonean communities.
According to the Embassy, the Peace Corps volunteers will contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening education and healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved communities where their skills and support are expected to make a positive impact.
“Welcome to Salone,” the Embassy stated, as it encouraged the trainees to embrace their experience and partnership with local communities during their time in Sierra Leone.
