Former Minister of Transport and Aviation, Leonard Koroma, has stated that he has no regrets over how he handled the project that resulted in the arrival of 50 red buses out of an initial plan for 100 during the previous administration.
Mr Koroma made the statement today, Monday 27th July 2026, during an interview with Truth Media, where he discussed the red bus project and addressed concerns surrounding its implementation and outcome.
The former minister said he remains confident in the decisions taken during his tenure, maintaining that the project was properly managed and that he stands by his role in bringing the buses into Sierra Leone.
The red bus initiative was introduced during the previous administration as part of efforts to improve public transportation services, provide more organised transport options, and address challenges faced by commuters across the country.
Mr Koroma explained that the project was designed to contribute to the development of the transport sector and improve mobility for citizens who depend on public transportation for their daily activities. His comments come amid continued public discussions about the management, delivery, and impact of major government projects implemented under previous administrations.
The former minister emphasised that he has absolutely no regrets regarding the way the red bus project was handled, defending the process that led to the arrival of the 50 buses despite the original plan for 100.
