President Julius Maada Bio on Monday, August 3, 2026, conducted Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema on a tour of the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre located at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi, as part of the visiting leader’s state visit to Sierra Leone.
The visit formed part of President Bio’s efforts to showcase the newly developed facility and highlight Sierra Leone’s growing capacity to host major regional and international conferences, summits, and business events.
During the tour, President Bio briefed his Gabonese counterpart on the significance of the conference centre to the country’s broader development agenda, particularly in the areas of tourism, investment promotion, and international engagement. The two leaders inspected key sections of the facility and discussed opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Sierra Leone and Gabon.

The conference centre, situated within the airport complex, is designed to support high-level diplomatic, commercial, and institutional gatherings and is expected to play a strategic role in positioning Sierra Leone as a competitive destination for international events.
President Oligui Nguema is in Sierra Leone on a state visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations between the two countries and exploring areas of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, infrastructure development, and regional partnership.
