Sierra Leone’s candidate for Miss World 2026, Mariyam Lorba Konneh, has appealed to Sierra Leoneans to unite behind her as she prepares to represent the country at the competition later this year.
In a social media post, Konneh, a former AYV Miss University titleholder, urged citizens to rally behind her, saying her participation is about more than personal achievement. She said she is carrying the hopes, pride, and aspirations of Sierra Leone onto the international stage.
Konneh noted that this year’s pageant will feature contestants from countries with long-established beauty pageant traditions, including South Africa and the United States. She said strong national support will be essential as she competes against representatives from those nations.
She also called on citizens, corporate organisations, institutions, and other stakeholders to support her journey, emphasising that she is representing Sierra Leone at one of the world’s most prestigious beauty pageants.
The appeal comes as preparations intensify for the global competition, where Konneh will represent Sierra Leone among contestants from around the world.
