Mogbwemo Queens FC has strongly condemned the alleged sexual harassment and physical assault of one of its players and a team medic by police personnel at the Bo-Fala Checkpoint.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 13 August 2026, the club said the alleged incident involved player Nadi Quadè and Team Medic Hassan Kamara at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
According to the club, Quadè and Kamara were travelling from Freetown to Bo when they were stopped at the checkpoint.
Mogbwemo Queens FC alleged that a police officer inappropriately touched Quadè and that she was physically assaulted after resisting the alleged misconduct.
The club further claimed that Kamara intervened to protect the player and was subsequently beaten and pepper-sprayed by police officers at the checkpoint.
The club stressed that the allegations must be properly investigated, noting that, if established, the alleged conduct would constitute a serious abuse of police authority, a violation of human dignity and an unacceptable act of gender-based violence.
Mogbwemo Queens FC called on the Assistant Inspector General of Police for the Southern Region to immediately launch a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident.
The club also urged the authorities to identify the officers allegedly involved and ensure that anyone found responsible is held accountable in accordance with the law.
“Our players and officials must be able to travel freely and safely in Sierra Leone,” the club stated.
The club emphasised that women deserve safety, citizens deserve dignity and police authority must never be used as a licence for abuse.
Mogbwemo Queens FC concluded its statement by reiterating its opposition to sexual harassment, police brutality and gender-based violence.
