Two workers have reportedly died after a mudslide occurred at the FB Group construction site in Lungi, where workers were carrying out underground pipe installation.
The incident reportedly occurred at the construction site of the International Conference Centre complex, which includes the hotel project near Lungi International Airport.
According to sources, four FB Group workers were trapped under the soil while attempting to install a pipe underground.
The workers were reportedly rescued from the site and rushed to Lungi Hospital for medical attention. However, sources said two of the workers later died from injuries sustained in the incident.
The deceased reportedly include one Sierra Leonean and one Senegalese national.
The other two workers were reportedly transferred to Freetown for intensive medical treatment.
The incident was initially reported as an unfortunate occurrence at the construction site, with reports indicating that workers had been trapped under soil during ongoing construction activities.
FB Group is currently involved in the construction of the International Conference Centre complex in Lungi, including the hotel project.
The company is yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm the number of casualties.
