Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Youth Affairs is seeking to expand cooperation with Saudi Arabia on youth development, skills training, entrepreneurship and education.
Minister of Youth Affairs Ibrahim Sannoh led a delegation from the ministry in a diplomatic meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Sierra Leone Saud Mushabbab Al-Musa’e on Aug. 26, 2026, according to the ministry.
The discussions examined potential areas for stronger bilateral cooperation aimed at creating more opportunities for young Sierra Leoneans.
The ministry said the engagement focused on youth development, skills advancement, entrepreneurship and education, alongside other areas of mutual interest between the two countries.
Sannoh was joined by Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Patrick Gibrilla, Permanent Secretary Philip Kargbo, Director of Programs James Bondeva Sandi and Director of Policy and Research Marlon Bockarie Esq.
The delegation and the Saudi ambassador also discussed ways to strengthen people-to-people and youth-to-youth ties between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia.
According to the ministry, the engagement is part of its broader effort to use international partnerships to widen opportunities for young people and support their participation in national development.
The ministry said stronger diplomatic cooperation could help Sierra Leonean youth gain access to skills, opportunities, professional networks and platforms that can contribute to the country’s development.
The meeting also reflected the government’s broader emphasis on partnerships as a means of advancing youth development while strengthening relations between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia.
