East End Lions has held their final training session in Abidjan on Saturday as they complete preparations for Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round first leg against Ivorian side AF Amadou Diallo.
The Killers arrived in Côte d’Ivoire on Friday and has since stepped up preparations for the match at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
Saturday’s final session has given head coach and his technical team the opportunity to make their last tactical adjustments, with particular attention likely to be placed on shape, set-pieces and the team’s approach to the opening leg.
Lions have been training with what the club described as “joy, focus and determination”, as they seek to begin their continental campaign with a positive result.
The match will be East End Lions’ latest appearance in African club competition after they secured their place in the Confederation Cup through their domestic success. The 2026/27 competition’s preliminary-round first legs are being played from 4-6 September, with return fixtures scheduled for 11-13 September.
AF Amadou Diallo, meanwhile, will be making its debut in CAF competition, adding another dimension to Sunday’s encounter. The two sides have never previously met.
For East End Lions, the objective will be to leave Abidjan with a result that gives them an advantage before the return leg.
The club will be hoping its final training session can help fine-tune the squad ahead of what is expected to be a demanding test against the Ivorian opposition.
The first leg is scheduled for Sunday, 6 September, at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, with the return leg to follow the next weekend.
