Former Principal and Vice Principal of the Albert Academy, Albert Fofie Kawa, has passed away, leaving behind an indelible legacy in Sierra Leone’s educational sector.
Kawa, a veteran educator revered for his strict discipline, academic rigour, and visionary leadership, served as Principal during a transformational. Throughout his tenure, he was widely credited with upholding the school’s long-standing tradition of excellence and producing generations of prominent national leaders, professionals, and scholars.
Among his most celebrated achievements was leading the Albert Academy during the 2003 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). That year, the school achieved a landmark feat when one of its star candidates secured an extraordinary 8 As, a performance acclaimed at the time as the top result across the entire West African region.
Tributes have begun pouring in from alumni, current staff, and the broader educational community, all remembering Kawa as a pillar of academic integrity and a mentor who dedicated his life to shaping young minds.
Funeral arrangements and official commemorative services are expected to be announced by the family and the Albert Academy Alumni Association in the coming days.
