The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has clarified that delays in the payment of August salaries have affected only 24 of its 1,516 employees, following changes to bank account numbers after the takeover of Union Trust Bank (UTB) by Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB).

In a statement, EDSA explained that existing UTB account numbers were changed following the takeover, but the Authority was not informed of the new account details of the affected employees before processing the August salary payments.

As a result, electronic salary transfers sent to the former UTB account numbers were rejected by the banking system, leading to delays in salary payments for the affected staff.

EDSA stressed that the issue does not affect all of its employees, noting that the 24 affected staff members are those who previously held accounts with UTB.

The Authority said it has since been informed of the reason for the rejected transactions and is taking steps to resolve the matter. The affected employees will be contacted to provide their updated account details, after which their outstanding salaries will be processed on Monday, September 14, 2026.

EDSA expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured the affected employees that efforts are underway to resolve the matter promptly.

The Authority also appealed to members of the public and social media users to verify information before sharing or publishing claims concerning EDSA, warning that unverified reports could create unnecessary concern and confusion.

EDSA reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its employees and to maintaining transparent, timely and responsible communication with staff and the public.
