Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS), Francess Alghali, has paid a courtesy visit to Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Julius F. Sandy, at the Sierra Leone High Commission in Abuja.
During the visit, High Commissioner Sandy congratulated Alghali on her appointment and assured her of the Mission’s continued support and collaboration as she takes on her new responsibilities.
The two officials discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and advance shared priorities relating to peace, security, and political stability across the subregion.
Speaking during the engagement, Commissioner Alghali described her interaction with the High Commission as important to her new responsibilities and stressed the need for sustained collaboration among regional stakeholders.
“I will do everything possible to navigate the intricacies of peace and security in the subregion,” Alghali stated.
She acknowledged the complexity of the PAPS portfolio and expressed her commitment to working diligently to advance its objectives and contribute to Sierra Leone’s interests.
Alghali also highlighted the importance of support and cooperation from the Sierra Leone High Commission and other members of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) in promoting coordinated action on regional issues.
According to the PAPS Commissioner, stronger coordination among Member States and relevant regional stakeholders is necessary to address emerging political and security challenges confronting the subregion.
She reaffirmed her commitment to working with Sierra Leone and other Member States through dialogue, strategic partnerships, and coordinated responses to regional challenges.
The engagement highlights the role of diplomatic cooperation and coordination among regional institutions in advancing peace, security, and political stability across the subregion.
