The Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Chief Amb. Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, has commended the ongoing transformation and modernisation of the Port of Freetown.
Ndomahina made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), Yankuba Askia Bio, and Deputy Director General Madam Judith Boi Kosseh, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
During the meeting, the NaCSA Commissioner praised the SLPHA leadership for what he described as the “remarkable transformation” taking place at the Port of Freetown.
He highlighted ongoing reforms, infrastructure development and modernisation initiatives, noting that they have contributed to improvements in the Port’s appearance and operational capacity.
Ndomahina further said the developments have positioned the Port of Freetown among the fastest-growing ports in the sub-region, citing continued efforts to improve infrastructure, efficiency and service delivery.
Responding to the visit, DG Bio expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s recognition of the work being undertaken by SLPHA and other stakeholders to transform the Port.
Bio stressed that the progress at the Port is the result of collective efforts involving SLPHA, government institutions, private operators and other stakeholders.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming the importance of continued institutional engagement and collaboration in support of Sierra Leone’s development.
