A new group of six Peace Corps Volunteers has commenced a two-year mission in Sierra Leone, following 10 weeks of intensive training ahead of their deployment across the country.
The Volunteers will work with local partners in the health and education sectors, supporting community-based initiatives and collaborating with Sierra Leonean counterparts during their assignment.
They were formally welcomed during a swearing-in ceremony held in Songo, attended by U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Meghan Moore, Sierra Leonean officials and community representatives.
The new cohort is expected to contribute to grassroots development while gaining practical experience through direct engagement with communities across Sierra Leone.
Their deployment forms part of the longstanding Peace Corps partnership with Sierra Leone, which has focused on community service, cultural exchange and strengthening people-to-people ties between Sierra Leone and the United States.
