The Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources has engaged the management of Marampa Mines Ltd to discuss the company’s financial health and the way forward for its operations.

The meeting, held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Ministry’s Board Room in Freetown, brought together representatives of the Ministry and Marampa Mines to review the company’s current financial position.

According to the Ministry, the engagement also focused on key challenges affecting the company’s operations and possible measures to strengthen its financial sustainability and ensure the continued operation of the mining company.

The discussions provided an opportunity for both sides to explore practical steps aimed at addressing the challenges confronting Marampa Mines while sustaining its contribution to Sierra Leone’s mining sector.

The Ministry said the engagement forms part of Government’s commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue with mining companies and working collaboratively to address challenges that could affect the sustainability of mining operations.

Government further emphasised the importance of ensuring that the mining sector continues to contribute meaningfully to Sierra Leone’s national economic development.
