Police Intercepts Suspect With Tramadol, Kush at Maforki Checkpoint
The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in the Port Loko Division have intensified efforts to curb the movement of suspected illicit drugs following the interception of a vehicle at the Maforki Checkpoint.
The interception was made on Sunday, 20 September 2026, during a routine checkpoint operation conducted by personnel attached to the Maforki Checkpoint.
According to the Sierra Leone Police, officers stopped a vehicle with registration number AXR 027, driven by Mohamed Lamin Kamara, a resident of Rokupr.
A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of 170 tablets of suspected Tapentadol/Tramadol, each purportedly 250 mg, as well as eight plastic sachets containing a substance suspected to be Kush.
Police subsequently arrested Alhajie Lamin Kamara in connection with the seized substances.
The Sierra Leone Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the seizure and determine the roles of the individuals involved.
