NASSIT Director General in Ghana to Strengthen Ties with SSNIT and Key Regional Partners
Sia Lucy Kannah The Director General of Sierra Leone’s National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Chernor Mamoud Jalloh led a productive two-day working visit from September 24 to 25, 2026, to Ghana’s Social Security and Insurance Trust (SSNT). The visit aimed to improve service delivery, make benefits more accessible for Sierra Leoneans, and build strategic partnerships across West Africa.
During high-level bilateral discussions with SSNIT’s Executive Committee, the Ghanaian host presented a comprehensive overview of the SSNIT Scheme, focusing on best practices in maximising coverage and compliance.
The visit also focused on the SSNIT’s operational reforms, particularly in compliance enforcement and digital transformation, served as a primary focal point, offering valuable insights for NASSIT’s ongoing modernization efforts. Both institutions agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation, highlighting the critical role that regional partnerships play in fortifying social protection systems across the ECOWAS sub-region.
Experts believe that strengthening regional cooperation among social security institutions is vital for building resilient social protection systems that inspire confidence across West Africa.
Director General Jalloh engaged in strategic talks with the leadership of Regimanuel Gray in Ghana. Meeting with Chairman Emmanuel Botchwey and Managing Director Ibrahim Bah, the discussion focused on evaluating and charting the future roadmap for their joint venture, Regimanuel Gray, Sierra Leone.
The Director General also paid a courtesy visit to the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Liaison Office for West Africa in Accra. Reaffirming NASSIT’s commitment to international standards, Mr. Jalloh expressed appreciation for ISSA’s continuous technical support and capacity-building initiatives, which remain essential for institutional growth and member confidence.
The two-day visit underlines NASSIT’s proactive commitment to learning, cross-border collaboration, and strategic investments aimed at safeguarding the social security interests of its members.
