Mano River Division Steps Up Community Security Partnership
The Mano River Division of the Sierra Leone Police has intensified efforts to strengthen community-based security through an engagement with Community Safety Volunteers (CSVs) and members of Local Policing Partnership Boards (LPPBs) in communities along the Sierra Leone–Liberia border.
The engagement was led by the Division’s Local Unit Commander, Superintendent Solomon S. Conteh, together with members of the Tasking and Coordinating Group (TCG), during a meeting held in Sorogbema Chiefdom.
The meeting brought together CSVs and LPPB representatives from Sorogbema and Zimmi Makpele Chiefdoms, as well as parts of Barri Chiefdom, all within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The engagement focused on strengthening cooperation, information-sharing and coordination between the Police and community-based security structures.
Superintendent Conteh also used the opportunity to familiarise himself with the community security mechanisms operating within the Division and hear directly from community representatives about local security concerns.
He reaffirmed the Police’s commitment to working with community structures and other stakeholders to prevent crime, promote public safety and build stronger trust between the Police and communities.
The engagement forms part of the Mano River Division’s ongoing efforts to advance community-oriented policing and strengthen security partnerships, particularly in communities situated along the Sierra Leone–Liberia border.
