Following the list of 25 man squad ahead of Leone Stars international friendlies, friendlies against BafanaBafana of South Africa and The Leopards of Congo DR in the upcoming FIFA Calendar dates (24th and 27th September, 2022 respectively), there have been questions about Leone Stars new called players to the squad.

When SLFA officially announced the squad, it was surprising that Musa Tombo was dropped from the squad and two new youngsters were added into the squad. They are Rodney Micheal Jr and Moses Turay.

Rodney Micheal Jr is an United States based player and he is among the new players added to John Keister 25-Man list ahead of Leone Stars Friendlies against South Africa and Dr Congo this month.

 

Rodney Michael (born 10 August 1999) is a Sierra Leonean footballer who plays as a forward for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship. He is 173 cm (5ft 8in) and  wears 19 in his current team, Indy Eleven.

Michael played three seasons of high school soccer at Dunn School, been named 2016-17 California Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year and lead the Earwigs to the CIF Southern Section Championship in 2015 and 2017. Michael earned All-CIF honors all three seasons after scoring 74 goals and tallying 43 assists in his career. Michael also played club soccer for USSDA side Santa Barbara Soccer Club from 2014 to 2017, helping the club to the 2016 U18 National Championship and earned Best-XI honors.

Michael attended the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2017 to play college soccer. Over four seasons with the Gauchos, Michael made 59 appearances, scoring 23 goals and tallying 15 assists.

During his time at college, Michael earned accolades including Big West All-Freshman Team, All-Big West First Team and Big West Freshman of the Year in 2017, All-Big West First Team and All-Far West Region First Team in 2018, Top Drawer Soccer All-America Second Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region First Team in 2019. He didn’t play a senior season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, Moses Turay is France-based striker. Moses Turay signed a professional contract with French Ligue 1 Ubers Eats Side ESTAC Troyes. His deal with the club was unveiled 3 months ago, on the 1st July 2022. The player was born on February 11th 2004 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He is approximately 1,80m in height.
