The Ebema Movement has expanded its grassroots activities with the launch of its structure in the Mendewa Community in Bo District, in an event held on behalf of First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio.

The launch brought together women, young people, community elders and other stakeholders, highlighting the movement’s efforts to extend its activities and message to communities beyond major population centres.

The ceremony was marked by a female football tournament, which organisers said was designed to promote women’s participation and empowerment through sports.

The football competition also provided an opportunity to bring women and young people together while highlighting themes associated with the Ebema Movement, including unity, inclusion and support for women and girls.

First Lady Fatima Maada Bio has been publicly identified as the leader of the Ebema Movement, which has continued to establish grassroots structures and hold community-based activities across Sierra Leone.

The Mendewa launch adds to the movement’s recent grassroots activities, including its launch in Gaama Daama, Kenema District, where supporters and community members gathered to mark the establishment of the movement in the area.

The Bo District event further placed women and youth at the centre of the movement’s community engagement, with organisers using sport as a platform to promote participation, inclusion and community mobilization .
