The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed an indictment against Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, a teacher of the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Primary School and an Examiner of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), and Mohamed Musa Koroma, a student of the Freetown Polytechnic, Jui Campus.

The two are indicted on three counts of corruption offences. Ibrahim Sorie Kamara and Mohamed Musa Koroma, according to ACC, are separately charged with one (1) Count of Academic Malpractice, contrary to Section 128(3) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008, as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019; and jointly charged with one (1) count of conspiracy to commit a corruption offence, contrary to Section 128(1) of the same Act.

According to the particulars of the offences, between 1st May and 31st July, 2026, in Freetown, the accused persons allegedly conspired with other unknown persons to engage in corrupt activities relating to the marking of examination scripts for the May 2026 National Primary School Examination (NPSE), specifically English Paper II (Paper Code 05), conducted by WAEC.

Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, who is also a resident of 46 Kamara Lane, Mansaray Step, Devil Hole, Freetown, in his capacity as a WAEC Examiner, unlawfully transferred four envelopes containing examination scripts to one MOHAMED MUSA KOROMA, who was neither an appointed WAEC Examiner nor an authorised custodian of the examination materials.

Further investigations revealed that Mohamed Musa Koroma was apprehended at Waterloo in possession of three red envelopes containing WAEC examination scripts, after representing to one Rashidatu Lois Bangura that he could facilitate the rewriting or adjustment of candidates’ answers.

The Commission has reassured its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the integrity and credibility of public examinations and curbing academic malpractice and all other forms of corruption in Sierra Leone.
