APC Pujehun Chairman Makes Fresh Push for Unity After Internal Elections
The newly elected Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Pujehun District, Sylvester Massaquoi, has called on former and current executive members to unite, forgive one another and work together to strengthen the party following the recently concluded lower-level elections.
Massaquoi made the appeal during a meeting with members of the former and current executive committees, where he emphasised unity, mutual respect, reconciliation and collective responsibility as essential to building a stronger and more inclusive party in the district.
He noted that strengthening the APC in Pujehun could not be achieved by the new executive alone, stressing that the experience, wisdom and contributions of former executive members remained vital to the party’s progress. He urged members to put aside personal ambitions, political disagreements and past grievances, and demonstrate unity through practical cooperation and support for the new leadership.
Speaking at the meeting, former APC District Chairman Amadu Sesay, popularly known as Doctor Hoo, thanked Massaquoi for bringing former and current executive members together, describing the initiative as a positive step towards reconciliation and responsible leadership.
Sesay acknowledged that disagreements had emerged during the contest to retain the chairmanship but urged members to accept the election outcome in good faith, attributing it to the will of Allah. He encouraged those no longer in executive positions to overcome any disappointment and extend the same cooperation to the new leadership that they had received during his tenure.
He stressed that leadership positions were not permanent and that supporting successors after leaving office demonstrated political maturity, loyalty and commitment to the party. He also called for forgiveness, saying he had forgiven those who might have hurt him during the political process and encouraging others to move beyond personal grievances.
Other speakers at the meeting echoed the call for unity, dialogue and cooperation, urging members to ensure that internal political competition did not create lasting divisions or damage relationships within the party.
Participants emphasised the importance of combining the experience and advice of former executive members with the direction of the newly elected leadership to strengthen the APC’s structures and advance its collective interests in Pujehun District.
