Isha Johansen Takes Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign to Female Correctional Centre
Former president of the Sierra Leone Football Association and former FIFA Council member Isha Johansen has visited the Female Correctional Centre in Freetown as part of her Football for Reform and Fashion for Change initiatives.
The visit, which forms part of Johansen’s humanitarian and advocacy work, also featured a breast cancer awareness session organised in collaboration with the Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
During the session, the foundation educated inmates on the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer under its “Hope for a Cure” campaign.
Johansen and her team also interacted with the inmates, offering words of encouragement and support.
As part of the assistance provided to the centre, Mr and Mrs Swaid, the Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Hotel and a friend of Johansen, donated 10 boxes of soap and 10 boxes of sanitary pads.
With support from Randah Swaid and Jeneh Amara-Bangalie, Chief Executive Officer of Swank Couture, Johansen also donated $300 to the inmates. She further provided $150 to an inmate scheduled for release on Saturday, 24 October, to support her and her son.
In addition, Johansen donated $300 to the Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation to support its breast cancer awareness campaign.
The initiative aims to promote the welfare, dignity and reintegration of women at the correctional facility, while highlighting Johansen’s continued commitment to humanitarian work and advocacy for vulnerable women.
