Judiciary Suspends Court Proceedings Nationwide for SLBA AGM
Salamatu Y. Kamara The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has announced a nationwide recess for all High Court and Magistrates’ Courts on Monday, 26 October 2026, to facilitate the Sierra Leone Bar Association’s (SLBA) Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The announcement was contained in a public notice dated 23 October 2026 and issued by Deputy Master and Registrar of the High Court, Hulaimatu F. Christian-Moses, from the Deputy Master and Registrar’s Office at the Law Courts Building on Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown.
According to the notice, the recess is intended to allow participation in the SLBA’s 2026 Annual General Meeting.
However, the Judiciary clarified that court registries and other support offices will remain open and continue operating normally during the recess.
The annual meeting brings together lawyers from across Sierra Leone to discuss matters affecting the legal profession and elect the Association’s executive officers for a one-year term.
