The Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr Isata Mahoi, has joined Well Woman Clinic and its partners in a solidarity walk to raise awareness about breast cancer and promote early detection in Sierra Leone.

The walk took place in Freetown on Saturday, October 24, 2026, as part of activities marking the clinic’s 20th anniversary under the theme, “Celebrating 20 Years of Health Empowerment in Sierra Leone: Well Woman Clinic 20th Anniversary.”

The event aimed to raise public awareness about breast cancer and highlight the importance of regular screening, early detection and timely access to medical care.

Speaking during the event, Mahoi congratulated Well Woman Clinic on 20 years of service and its commitment to improving the health and well-being of women and young girls across the country.

She encouraged women to prioritise regular breast cancer screening, stressing that early detection is essential to improving treatment outcomes and saving lives.

Mahoi also reaffirmed the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs’ commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s health, advance their empowerment and help ensure that women have access to opportunities to live healthy and dignified lives.

The anniversary walk formed part of efforts to encourage women to take proactive steps towards breast cancer awareness and screening, while promoting collective action to improve women’s health in Sierra Leone.
