An intelligence officer attached to State House has been granted Le50,000 bail by a Freetown magistrate while facing a charge of fraudulent conversion involving an official motorcycle.

Daniel Yankuba appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 over the alleged misuse of a TVS HLX 125 motorcycle valued at 35,000 Leones, according to court records.

The prosecution alleges that Raymond Taylor of the Intelligence Department entrusted the motorcycle to Yankuba for official duties and safekeeping. The alleged offense occurred between June 1 and June 30, 2026, at Taylor Drive, off Imatt, Freetown.

Yankuba faces one count of fraudulent conversion under Section 20(1)(i)(iv) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

No plea was entered during the court appearance, as the matter remains at the committal proceedings stage. Prosecutor Inspector Theresa Ballay told the court that defense counsel S. Sandy, Esq., had received all necessary case files.

Following a bail application under Section 76(1)(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2024, Magistrate Fornah granted bail in the sum of Le50,000. The court ordered that the accused provide one surety with valid identification, subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The matter was adjourned to October 28, 2026, for the continuation of preliminary proceedings.

Yankuba remains an accused person, and the allegations have yet to be determined by the court.
