Mighty Blackpool Remain Winless After Defeat to Ports Authority
Mighty Blackpool’s disappointing start to the Sierra Leone Premier League season continued on Saturday after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ports Authority at the Approved School Grounds.
The Tis-Tas Boys have now gone four league matches without a win, collecting just one point and sitting in the relegation zone.
The central Freetown side looked set to earn at least a point against the Waterfront Boys before Alieu Kamara struck in the closing stages of the match, beating the Blackpool goalkeeper to secure all three points for Ports Authority.
The victory takes Ports Authority to five points from four matches, while Blackpool remain under pressure to turn their season around.
The latest defeat will raise further concerns among Blackpool supporters, particularly after the club narrowly escaped relegation last season.
Although the campaign is still in its early stages, their failure to register a win in four matches is an alarming start for a club with such a rich history in Sierra Leonean football.
Blackpool will now be hoping to find their form quickly to avoid another difficult battle against relegation.
