Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding bilateral cooperation with Libya following a high-level meeting between Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray and Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba in Tripoli.

Minister Swaray, who returned to the Libyan capital to participate in the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) Executive Council Ministerial Meeting, conveyed warm greetings from President Dr. Julius Maada Bio to the Libyan Government and people.

During the engagement, the Sierra Leonean minister expressed solidarity with the people of Libya, drawing on Sierra Leone’s own experience of overcoming conflict and pursuing national reconstruction. He reaffirmed the country’s support for a Libyan-led process towards lasting peace and stability.

The discussions also addressed efforts to revitalise CEN-SAD, strengthen longstanding diplomatic relations and identify additional areas of mutual interest for bilateral cooperation between Sierra Leone and Libya.

The meeting reflects Sierra Leone’s continued interest in deepening its engagement with Libya and advancing regional cooperation through diplomatic dialogue and stronger partnerships across Africa.
