2023 Election: Supreme Court of Sierra Leone Dismisses PR Case

The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone has ruled in favour of using the Proportional Representative system (PR) in the June 2023 Multi-tier Elections.

The Chief Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone, His Lordship Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards, and four empanelled Justices on Friday, 27 January 2023 ruled in favour of using the Proportional Representative system in the forth-coming June 2023 General Elections.

The case was brought before the court by the opposition party, All People’s Congress(APC) challenging the legality of the PR System in the 2023 Elections.
