Sierra Leone Bar is Full of Sexual Predators
The SL Bar is full of sexual predators preying on our vulnerable sisters who are trying to make ends meet every day. Not that we don’t know what’s going on but nobody seems to be doing anything about it. It’s perceived these predators are men of society. It’s disgusting and demotivating, to say the least.
We’ve heard so many stories, from the young Law Student who went to Counsel’s office to settle some grade issues and counsel stripped and asked for a blow job, to the young intern whose hands were pulled to sit on Counsel’s lap, and to the newly admitted at the bar, seeking pupillage and was told by counsel “you’ve got big breasts and booty, that’s what I like about you,” counsel will have to take his shirt off, unzip his trousers, and will ask “haven’t you ever seen a man gone naked before. These, and many more.
We recognize them, encourage them, and place them in positions of trust. But I guess we’re just spectating and it’s none of our business. For some of us, we’ve had enough and it’s time to take action. If you’re out there and have been a victim of sexual harassment at the bar, or if you know someone who has been a victim or a perpetrator, please reach out. Let’s put an end to this nonsense.
